Many people wish to go green and save on power bills by switching to renewable energy sources, such as solar power or wind power. However, the high cost of installing green solar power systems can be off-putting.
The cost of installing green solar electricity systems with domestic solar power panels is often higher than the cost of a brand new family car. On average, in 2010, green solar power systems cost around $22,000 (£12,000) to install.
How Free Solar Panels Reduce Electric Bills
Green domestic solar power will reduce electric bills by around 40 percent, which for most households is $240 (£120) a year. However, in many locations householders will be able to sell surplus electricity, generated by their green solar power panels, back to energy firms.
In the United Kingdom, the government will pay householders around £800 a year for all the green solar power produced by domestic solar power panels. The U.K. government has committed to continuing this green scheme for at least 25 years so it is not a "here today, gone tomorrow" opportunity.
How to Make Money From Free Solar Panels
To benefit from green solar energy, householders must install photo-voltaic solar panels on a south-facing roof. The solar power panels turn energy from the sun into electricity. Domestic solar power cannot be stored so, to benefit fully, it is sensible to use appliances during daylight hours rather than at night. During the day any surplus solar energy is pumped into the national grid.
At night, householders will continue to draw from the grid in the usual way. This scheme is called a “feed-in” tariff and householders who go for solar power will need to sign up for this type of tariff with their energy supplier.
Go Green With Free Solar Panels
Some specialist green energy firms, such as Isis, HomeSun and A Shade Greener, will now install your solar energy system, including the all-important solar power panels, for free. Switching to green domestic solar power will cost you nothing, in terms of upfront payment.
Free Solar Panel Deals
Here’s the deal. The solar energy firm meets the cost of the solar power installation and, in return, you agree to sign over the payments you receive from the government to the solar energy firm. This contract will be for a minimum period, usually 25 years, so householders should bear this in mind if planning to move house within that time frame.
The contract will prevent the householder from removing the solar power panels during this period. The benefit for the householder is that there is no upfront cost , the solar energy system is free, and they immediately benefit from using a renewable energy source in addition to considerably cheaper energy bills.
